Prior to his career in law, Alden was a recipient of the ASEAN Scholarship at Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore. He read law at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom where he was awarded the Agnes Sinclair University Undergraduate Scholarship. Having achieved First Class Honours for his degree in law, he went on to pursue professional training as a Barrister in London, United Kingdom and was called to the Bar as a member of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
Today, Alden practises in the areas of Corporate and Commercial, Banking & Finance, Real Estate and Construction. He has advised both onshore and offshore clients on a diverse range of corporate and commercial transactions, both local and cross-border, including the entry into of various contracts (such as agreements for the supply of goods and services, joint venture agreements, subscription agreements, shareholders agreements, non-disclosure agreements, stakeholder agreements, collaboration agreements and EPCC contracts) as well as the acquisition or disposal of companies, hotels, medical centres, mixed residential/commercial properties and other assets.
Further to his commercial practice, Alden also renders legal advice on licensing, regulatory and compliance matters and had advised statutory bodies in their engagement with the relevant ministries to clarify or seek amendments to their existing statutory powers, duties and functions.
